Giving Back to Our Community

At BC Oaks Academy, we believe in supporting causes that make a real difference in children’s lives.

Recently, we were honored to take part in a Charity Family Day at Horns Inn, raising funds for a sensory room for children at Bournemouth Royal Hospital. Thanks to the incredible support of families and the local community, the event raised over Β£6,300!

Following this success, we made a donation from the Academy to the UHD Charity, providing sensory toys, diamond painting keychains, stacking toys, UNO cards, painting trays, and stickers. We are deeply grateful to all our parents and members whose donations helped make this possible. Together, we are helping create a brighter and more comfortable environment for children in hospital.
πŸ‘‰ If you would like to continue supporting, you can contribute through their Amazon Wishlist.

We also came across the inspiring work of Sophie’s Legacy, which provides snack boxes for families in hospitals and raises awareness about childhood cancer. We were proud to make a donation of porridge pots, Tassimo coffee pods, chocolate bars, bottles of squash, cereal bars, pot noodles, and crisps to support their amazing cause.
πŸ‘‰ This is their websiteΒ if you would like to donate as well.

At BC Oaks Academy, we are committed to giving back and doing what we can to bring comfort and joy to children and families during challenging times. Together, let’s continue to make a difference.

Nida Camp 2025, Lithunia

This summer our scholarship program gave players an unforgettable opportunity: a week at Team 97 Camp in Nida, Lithuania.

For many of our boys, it was their first international basketball experience,Β training with some of the most experienced coaches in Europe, alongside athletes from different countries. The camp was more than just basketball: it was about discipline, healthy habits, and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Getting there was a team effort. Throughout the year, funds were raised through game-day shop sales, apparel, and raffles. A huge thank you to everyone who supported us, you made this trip possible.

By the end of the week, players and coaches came home with not only new skills, but also memories and lessons that will carry into next season.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s camp,Β and taking even more players with us.
Let’s go Oaks! πŸ€πŸŒ³

Summer Events

This summer we had the pleasure of taking basketball out into the community with two fantastic events,Β  giving more young people the chance to discover the game we love.

New Forest Family Fun Day – New Milton RFC
We joined the Family Fun Day at New Milton RFC, where local kids got a free taste of basketball. The court was packed all afternoon with smiles, energy, and plenty of first-time players taking their shot. Nothing beats seeing new faces light up when they discover the game! πŸ€πŸ™Œ

Make it Bournemouth
A brilliant weekend at Make it Bournemouth, full of activities, energy, and excitement. Our highlight? A quick coaches vs. players 3v3 game that got the crowd cheering and showed off the fun, competitive spirit of the sport. πŸ’ͺπŸ€

It was the perfect way to kick off the new season and show why BC Oaks Academy is Dorset’s premier basketball destination.

Playoff 2024/25

27/04/2025

What a weekend! Our club wrapped up the Dorset Basketball Association season in style β€” with both our Men’s and U12 teams bringing home Playoff Champion titles πŸ™Œ

The Men’s team faced off against our long-time rivals and friends from Bournemouth Bears Razors in a dramatic Premier Final. After trailing by double digits, the guys pulled off an electric second-half comeback to take the win, with Tomas Skiotys dropping 27 points and earning the MVP title πŸ€πŸ’ͺ Massive respect to the Razors for a tough, physical battle!

But it was our U12 squad who put the cherry on top πŸ’πŸ†
In their final against the formidable Jurassic Coast Raptors, it was all square at halftime. But our young Oaks came out in the third ready to execute, stepping up with mature defence, smart spacing, and big-time shooting. One of our players put up an incredible 37 points 😳 β€” but this was a team win all the way.

We’re incredibly proud to finish the year with silverware in both senior and junior brackets β€” especially in our U12 team’s first season together 🍾🌳

Thank you to Dorset Basketball Association for a brilliant season and to all the coaches, parents, players and supporters who’ve made this journey special. And shout out to MC Jordan for bringing the energy to the Men’s Finals! πŸŽ™οΈ

Skills Camp by Kendel Glapion

20/04/25
Great basketball Saturday yesterday marked another successful camp for BC Bournemouth Oaks πŸ€

Kendel Glapion skills masterclass got the local youth talent working their socks off and then showing it off in the first ever 1 v 1 tournament.

It was such a pleasure to witness the best young players in the area showcase their skills. Step backs, crossovers, and 1’s were everywhere! We had two game shots to decide the winners in the semi finals and finals which capped off a great day of youth basketball.
But it was the brother duo representing BCS Seahawks that had the most skill in 1 v 1 game and took #1 spots in both age categories.

Congratulations guys – future of Bournemouth basketball is in great hands!

We would like to thank Everyone that participated and their parents for another memorable day of basketball for our community. Big shout out to the incredible Kendel Glapion who yet again delivered some skills magic.

Catch the action of the Semi Finals and Finals on our Youtube channel.

23/24 DBA Final

30/04/24
πŸ€πŸŒ³Saturday was a tough pill to swallowπŸ’Š
Bournemouth Bears Basketball ClubΒ gave us a good lesson on how to play a final and were dominant from the start of the game. We were too focused on our opponent and forgot to relax and just play basketball. Perhaps experience of such big games and being too hyped up were the main reasons we lost, but credit to amazingΒ Bournemouth Bears Basketball Club! It is a pleasure to loose against such a unitΒ πŸ’ͺ

Altogether, we are super proud of our season – second inΒ Dorset Basketball Association, foundations for our juniors and Acorns academies and we had a lot of support during the final from fans!Β πŸ™Œ

Losses like these are a good learning curve and we move upwards! Thank you for the season Dorset Basketball Association. Special mention to Alex Fuhrmann for his inspiration and leadership and best of luck in your future endeavors! 🀝

Really excited for next season – major changes to our men’s team, our Juniors enteringΒ Dorset Basketball AssociationΒ in U12 and U14 age groups, Acorns programme growing! Couple months rest and then back in the court!Β πŸ€πŸŒ³

It’s an annual tradition and this year we teamed up with the The Saltwater Sauna to up our experience! πŸ™Œ It’s healthy, fun and not so cold if you hit the water straight after the sauna! Great service and highly recommend 🫢
Merry Christmas to all basketball family out there! πŸ€πŸŒ³

πŸ€πŸ† Epic basketball match against the Dorset Demons Wheelchair Basketball Club was full of excitement! πŸš€ Despite the 46-25 loss, we had an absolute blast playing against these skilled athletes in wheelchairs! πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸŽ‰
Kudos to the Demons for their amazing performance, and we’re proud to say we held our own 🀩🎊 It’s incredible how sports can bring people together and create unforgettable moments on and off the court. 🀝❀️
Thank you, Dorset Demons, for the friendly match, the inspiration, and a ton of fun! πŸ™Œ And also big thanks to our Bournemouth Bears Basketball Club brothers for joining in πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ€
